Where can I find quality, pitch white makeup for a Joker Halloween costume?

I usually take halloween very seriously, but I don't have alot of money on hand this year, so rather than make a very expensive costume again this year, I decided to perfect an old one.

I went as The Joker from The Dark Knight last year. I have a very nice costume, but the makeup I had was horrible. It was something I picked up from a costume shop. It went on wet, and dried like paint. While it looked good for about 20 minutes, it turned solid, would crack, chip, and fall off. Another problem was that it was so itchy that I couldn't bare to wear it for more than an hour or so at a time.

Is there a certain kind of makeup I could use that would go on pitch white and stay that way? I understand that I probably couldn't do much eating or sweating, but the makeup I had last year ruined halloween for me, because I have a long standing tradition of only going out in public on hallween in costume, and I'd like to actually stay looking like my character this year.

Find out if there is a theater/dance related store near where you live.
They will sell professional stage quality makeup (Ben Nye, Mehron & Kryolan are the two best company’s).
Look/ask for cake makeup opposed to grease makeup.
You can also probably find products from those company online, anything other than those company, I wouldn’t use for your makeup.
Around here we have a store called Malabars.

you can try some womens BASE makeup thats VERY light and put some baby powder OVER it to set it…that way it doesn’t ’settle’ and get weird…

if you live near a school or college stop in and ask the drama teacher gets their makeup. its usually pretty good.
if that wont work go to dramaclassmakeup.com
thats where my highschool drama teacher always told us to go

    Hi!

For your white base you’ll probably need stage makeup.

I was able to find this in a search -
    http://www.stagemakeuponline.com/howto/jokesonyou.php

Now I really don’t expect you to buy everything on the list but it does show what you can buy from them, as well as instructions (just in case :])

    Hope this helps!
    Happy Halloween!
