What unlawful acts did Batman do during his career?

In The Dark Knight, Dent reminds the people of Gotham that the Batman has to pay for the laws he has broken so far. I was wondering, what laws exactly does he break throughout the movie and the franchise?

And a quick question, how is it that Batman can reach a scene of a crime before Gotham police can? Assuming Gotham's response time is relatively fast.

Thanks!

In the Nolan movies alone, he breaks many laws that are simply overlooked by Jim Gordon, who recognizes that Batman’s choice to ignore the rules means he can solve crimes the cops can’t. Some laws he breaks specifically: numerous traffic laws (speeding, driving on the wrong side of the road, etc…. probably even driving an unlicensed vehicle), evading arrest, breaking and entering (into the police station, etc.), assault (everyone he beats up, most prominently Sal Maroni in TDK [when he breaks his legs] and Flass in BB [when he strings him up with the grapple]), withholding evidence, removing evidence from a scene of a crime (taking the bullet from the wall in TDK, in particular), etc. And I’m pretty sure the Joker’s interrogation, although allowed by Gordon, breaks quite a few more laws.

In the comics, he breaks all of these laws and more on a regular basis. Back in the Silver Age, I believe (so 50s/60s comics), he was named an honorary member of the police department, which was how he got away with everything he did. In the modern age, however, his illegal methods more often lead to strife between him and the police/government. In Batman: Year One, which details his first year as Batman, he is labeled a criminal and a significant threat and is hunted down by the police (similarly to how they treat him in Batman Begins). These days, however, he’s good friends with Jim Gordon, who, as the police commissioner, chooses to overlook his crimes.

As to how he can beat the cops there… well, the Batmobile is quite a bit faster than police cars, and he doesn’t have to use stairs (windows and a grapple gun work pretty well!). He finds out where to go, incidentally, by listening to the police scanner.

screw dent ,batman is a hero not a cop.he is not bound by laws that let murderers walk away scott free because of a technicality.a hero will kick in a door while cops wait on a warrant.
