Batman Movies: Which one is the Best for You, and Why?
I'm only considering the "live action" movies (my rating in parentheses):
1) Batman, 1989, by Burton with Nichols as the Joker (**)
2) Batman Returns, 1992, by Burton with Pfeiffer as Catwoman and deVito as The Penguin (*****)
3) Batman Forever, 1995, by Schumacher with Carrey as The Riddler and Lee-Jones as Two Face (no stars)
4) Batman and Robin, 1997, by Schumacher with Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze and Thurman as Poison Ivy (utter cr-p)
5) Batman Begins, 2005, by Nolan with Bale as Batman and Watanabe as Al-Ghul (*)
IMO both Schumacher entries were sad kiddie fare, Nolan's "Begins" was long-winded and boring, the first "Batman" by Burton was good yet not great, and "Returns" is a true masterpiece although not so much a Batman movie as a psychosocial study of marginality.
You don't have to agree with me. I'd just love to hear some honest opinions.

My favorites are Batman 1989, Batman Returns, and Batman Begins. The Joel Schumacher ones were too comic bookish and campy (like the tv show.) I prefer the dark versions over the camp.

I would say Batman Begins was the best followed by Batman.

Gotta go with 1989’s Batman - fantastically realized the world of Gotham - great performance by Keaton as Bruce Wayne and Nicholson as the Joker.
I think Burton got too into the villians in Returns - a character study of The Penguin really wasn’t worth it for me.
Schumacher’s got worse and worse…
I liked Begins, and am looking forward to it’s sequel. But my vote still goes to the first one.

I enjoyed them all. The Schumacher weren’t as dark as the Batman fanbase wanted them to be which I can’t really relate to as the most I have encountered with the Dark Knight is from the movies and the odd episode of ‘The Animated Series’. I don’t cringe at the campy innuendoes that the latter two of the first quadrilogy offered- sometimes it even brought a smile to my face! Uma’s Poison Ivy was perfect in my opinion- it has been the only role that I have enjoyed her in… as for Nolan’s take on the franchise that was an interesting take on them however the only thing I didn’t really like much was the prescence of Katie Holmes. I have nothing against the girl- but I think the whole affair with Tom Cruise has ruined my judgement of character. Burton is not of this world, to put it simply. His movies are fantastic- the dark and almost noir take on Batman is genius. His eerie/alien view of flm is not scary but it thoroughly enjoyable.

batman begins is an awesome movie and probably the best batman
the one with poison ivy was the only other one I’ve seen and that was probably the worst movie ever made.
